Since Alyssa started getting her allergy injections we haven't noticed an improvement. In fact, it seems her symptoms are getting worse...including the asthma. Sometimes she starts wheezing and after playing hard she has a hard time calming down and coughs constantly. The pediatrician suggested we call the allergist to see if we should continue with the treatment.
When I took her in she told us that the shots would not be effective until she reaches he maintenance dose...in about 9 months...after allergy season. Great. She also told us that her asthma is getting more aggressive and will probably get worse before it gets better. Double great.
Since Aly is too young to use and inhaler properly, we are now the proud owners of our very own nebulizer machine. Aly has to do breathing treatments twice a day for maintenance and as needed for rescue. Hopefully by Fall she will be able to learn how to use an inhaler and we can stop using the nebulizer.
She is such a trooper! At first she was scared of the machine, but the nurse gave her a turtle mask to use and she could wait to try it.
