Good grief! It has been over a month since I have update our blog. Trust me, it is not because there has been a lack of post worthy activities, but quite the opposite...we have been so busy I haven't had the time to sit down a form a coherent thought! This month isn't looking much better...there is very little 'white' on our calendar. I am working on a bunch of posts, but here is a quick update to tide you over ;):
Hannah:
She has completely recovered from her surgery and is just as silly and cute as always! She absolutely loves to just play...especially with her little princess dolls. It is so sweet to watch her when she in engrossed in her 'world'. She has also been really lovey and cuddly lately...which I love. She give the best kisses. I can not believe how big she is getting and that this is her last summer before starting pre-school! Where does the time go?? On the other hand, we have had a potty issue we are trying to deal with. Randomly, she started peeing in her panties. Often...not just an accident here and there. I think she is just doing it because she doesn't want to stop what she is doing to go, but after 6 months accident free bliss this is not cool. She is recovering from a nasty UTI, but I'm skeptical the two are related because it has been going on for so long. I hope I am wrong. Frustrating. It reminds me of the sour patch kid commercial: 'First they're sour...then they're sweet.' Gotta love our Hannah Baby.
Alyssa:
She is 5. I think that says it all. This has to be the most difficult age so far. She has attitude oozing from her bones. Even with all the sass, she is still our sweet and compassionate little girl who is loving life. We finally seem to be seeing some relief from her weekly injections. Praise God! That is such a blessing, because she wants to spend every waking moment outside! She is addicted to swinging and is a total waterbug this year. I am looking forward to having some Aly and Mommy 'dates' soon. I want to enjoy every moment of this summer with her before she starts 'big girl' school. It is hard to believe that she is going to be going to kindergarten all day this Fall...
Dan:
School is now out for the summer, but he has picked up a part-time job working for Scotts. This is a bummer because we wanted to have the whole summer off together, but since I lost my job we need to try to pay down some debt before my income stops. The good thing is that as the summer goes on he will have less hours and we will have more time together. We are still hoping he gets a different teaching job, but God seems to be slamming doors right and left on that idea. He is trying to just be content in where the Lord has us right now and knowing that our plans are seldom God's plans. He also got to go to YL camp at Rockbridge for a week with our High School kids. It was a tiring, but awesome week where 12 of our HS kids started a relationship with Jesus.
Jenn:
School is out for...well, indefinitely. I finished up my last day as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher in Gahanna earlier this month. It was sad and hard to leave, but after the emotional roller coaster we have been on since the RIF-ing in March I was ready to move on and start the next chapter of my life. I still don't know what exactly that is yet, but for now it includes continuing to work towards my Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist license online and babysitting for two neighborhood families this Fall. who are also teachers I am content...at the moment...and I have a strange peace about it that know can only be from Jesus. I know it is not a long-term scenario, but it is all I have to work with right now. There is a lot on my summer bucket list to get accomplished before August rolls around again. I am excited to see what God has in store for me...and all of us!
We have also both started to training for the Columbus {half} Marathon in October. Yes, you read that right...a half marathon. Crazy or not, we are going to complete all 13.1 miserable miles. I am most definitely not a runner, but we decided to run with some friends to raise money for Young Life in Gahanna. Not only will it help has to have a greater impact in this city for Jesus, but it will get us into shape and drop more pounds...we have both lost about 20 pounds a piece since January.
More to come...
