The Chase

You know that feeling when you are running from something and you realize that what you are running from is about to catch you...

That feeling that takes your breath away and makes your heart skip a beat.

That...is Hannah's favorite.

One of her very favorite things to do is play 'chase'.  She literally just wants us to chase her around.  She taunts us and giggles uncontrollably as she weaves her way in and out of furniture obstacles to get away from us. 

Then, when we get close, there is a giddy squeal and you know that that feeling is welling up inside of her.  Sometimes she will run into the arms of someone who is not doing the chasing for them to 'save' her...that is my favorite since I am usually the one doing the saving :)  Once she is 'caught', we cuddle and then she begs with her puppy dog face, "Will you chase me again.  Just one more time..."  How can you say 'no' to that??

It is one of the sweetest things ever.  And, it takes the saying, 'the thrill of the chase' to a whole new level :)

I can't believe this means there are only two months until Christmas...

Run a Half-Marathon...CHECK!

Back in the Spring we committed to training for the Columbus Half-Marathon.  I had to bail out during the summer because my hip was hurting too much to continue training properly.  Dan kept going and stuck out the training program...even in the 100*+ heat. 

Well, the race was yesterday...Dan rocked it! He finished the 13.1 miles with a time of 2:03:39! Truly awesome!!

There were SO many people we couldn't even get close enough to get a picture of them at the start.  Plus, dealing with two tired kids and a over-packed jogging stroller in the crowed streets of downtown Columbus was not conducive to photography...

We did get to cheer him on just after he passed the 9 mile mark.  The girls we so excited to see him and get some kisses, but then we had to race through the shortcuts to get to the finish before he did!!

Dan and Sara were the only ones from the YL team that actually followed through with the race!  Great job, Sara!!

Several of our other friends ran as well!  Here is Dan with another one of the awesome finishers, Kelley!  Way to go!!

Even though it was hard, he had a great time and plans to run more of them.  At one point he even said he may run the full marathon next Fall...we will see it that happens.  Nothing about 26.2 miles appeals to me, but I was actually a little disappointed I didn't get to run in the half.  Watching people cross the finish line was really inspiring.  You can tell what a sense of accomplishment it was for them.  Plus the medal was really cool ;)  If I can train...without the hip pain, I may run in the quarter Cap City Marathon in the Spring.  My body is just not designed for running!!  I just want to be able to say that I did it :)

The cutest thing all day was the girls constantly telling Dan how proud the were of him...and, of course, so am I!!  Congratulations! We are all sooooooooo proud of you!!

CREEPside '11

It was rainy and wet for CREEPside this year, but that didn't keep us from collecting lots of candy!  The girls dressed as princesses...for the third year in a row.

This is how you celebrate Fall...

when you live in a new housing development.  

I think we had less than 100 leaves, but the girls were not going to let that ruin their plans. They were going to 'jump in them'...no. matter. what.  And, they had an absolute blast!

Ummm...you did what?!?!?

I finally figured out why out bathroom smells like urine even though we don't have boys who can 'miss' the target.

I went in to help Hannah wash her hands after she went to the bathroom and noticed there wasn't any toilet paper in the toilet.  The conversation went like this:

Me: Did you wipe?

Hannah: Yes.

Me: What did you wipe with because I don't see any toilet paper in the toilet.

Hannah: (giggle) The carpet!

Oh. My. Heavens.
